Acer Palmatum- 'Chishio Improved' 'Chishio Improved' also known as 'Shishio Improved' is a small colorful tree shrub. This small-leaved cultivar has brilliant spring foliage. The spring foliage is as bright as that of a 'Shin Deshojo', but the color is more crimson than crimson-scarlet. The spring color is long-lasting and turns a gorgeous pink-red color until the beginning of summer when it turns an attractive green. In the fall the leaves turn an orange to red color. The bark of the young shoots are quite red on the upper side. This multi-branched, vigorous tree shrub grows between 6-8 ft. in 10 years. It is one of the best bright pink-red spring color cultivars with almost no weaknesses. 'Chishio Improved' is a very graceful tree/shrub which adapts well to containers and can be used for bonsai culture.
